The mission behind HANDISPOC
For sporting, cultural and social inclusion. HANDISPOC supports, raises awareness and builds bridges between disabled and non-disabled people.
Handi + Spo + C
Founded in July 2019, HANDISPOC brings together disability (Handi), sport (Spo) and culture (C). The charity works in schools, universities, companies and rehabilitation centres.
A bridge between France and Cameroon
The charity’s head office is in France, near Grenoble, where it also supports people with disabilities. In the field in Cameroon, HANDISPOC works in the Centre, Littoral and West regions: Yaoundé, Douala and the surrounding areas.
This dual base makes it possible to raise funds and collect equipment in Europe, then turn them into concrete action close to the people concerned.
The founder: Frédéric Conrat Atangana
Born in Yaoundé in 1987, Frédéric Conrat Atangana is a powerlifter: he was the only Cameroonian athlete at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, where he carried Cameroon’s flag. He won several gold medals at the Francophone African Games for people with disabilities.
A wheelchair basketball player, he has played for Cameroon’s national team and now plays for Meylan-Grenoble Handibasket. This double experience, between France and Cameroon, led him to found HANDISPOC and create the Atangana Wheelchair Basketball Camp.
Our vision
Breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes and creating a more inclusive society. In the long term, HANDISPOC aims to extend its work across Central Africa through local and international partnerships.
Our long-term projects
Recycling workshop
A workshop to repair wheelchairs and mobility equipment, then give them to people who need them.
Multifunctional centre in Cameroon
A place to train, house and support young people with disabilities.
